Seiko has introduced 4 new watches within the formal end of their Presage collection dubbed the Sharp Edges series. These watches lean toward Grand Seiko levels of finishing and dial architecture while remaining relatively accessible in the process. Each of the new watches offer a unique dial color and texture that bring new meaning to the term heritage inspired. Not only do these watches honor Japanese history, they look pretty damn good in the process.
A machine stamped hemp leaf pattern distinguishes the dials from the previous Presage timepieces and features long multi-faceted baton-shaped applied indices. Steel, luminescent dauphine-shaped hour and minute hands indicate the time along with the baton-shaped center seconds hand. The date is displayed at 3 o’clock. PRESAGE AUTOMATIC is printed at 6 o’clock and SEIKO is affixed to the dial at 12. The flange has a concentric circle pattern and is color-matched to the dial with the minute/second track printed on the ring.
